Hello ezis666,
i could only find IRFP450's for the fast diodes i have HER250 or DSEI 30-06A, inductor has 30 turns of aprox 1mm copper wire on a 1.5inch diameter toroid (unknown inductance)
capacitors available are on the pictures below
please advice.

Thanks

for IH IRFP450 is not good. RdsOn=0.4Ohm, this is 5.6V@14A=78W heat.
PCB traces prorably to long.
Here can see my PCB, same schematic for another use

Nice !!!!, is that a HPS lamp ? what transformer are you using does it light up ?

what are the minimum parameters to look for when choosing a MOSFET for the Mazzilli circuit ??

thanks

no, this is 400W mercury vapor lamp. Transformer is from AT PSU, input in 5V winding.
Minimum is Uds>3*Vcc, and RdsOn<0.1Ohm

I make many tests and many variations, low and high power.
Small (10-20mm) Inductor coil does not work.My working coils are 100mm 2+2wind., 55mm 3+3wind, 25mm 6+6wind. best heating at 90-150kHz

Thanks,
is Uds= Vds = Drain to source Voltage
RdsOn = Drain to source resistance, right ?
can you post a closeup picture of the transformer,
also what parameter determines the zener to use my gues is that is Vgs,
is there a way to use a separate PSU for the gates ?

BTW, the inductor on the 12v line conected to the center tap of the main inductor, what is the best to use ?

again thanks

The photo of the capsule from the MV lamp posted by ezis 666 is noteworthy.

Outside of their lamps they do cause UV burns from a distance.
We often had safety calls whenever one of the lamps got smashed by flying debris from machinery and left the core allight. The 1000 watt ones were worse.

Yes, i know. Welding mask is must. Hard UV radiation.
2 Ed- zeners is for gate protection
