here is an RGB led strobe clock i have made, basically a printed hand on a motor that gets illuminated 3 times per rotation to create a 'frame'.
more details of how it works can be seen here and here

nice avi, is it in the "Projects" thread yet?

i was planning to make something similar using a hard drive platter coated with luminous paint, zigzag offset UV LEDs on a line, and an LCD panel on the front to "strobe" the output when you want to output a frame.
problem is finding a big enough single pixel panel which passes enough light...
perhaps one of those screens where the glass is intact but the LVDS is cooked, sometimes you can "kludge" the drives so they display multicolour lines or B/W.

"Bother!" said Pooh, as he filled up two 500GB hard drives...

Try this one...
400 and 1000FPS Mot arcing.
1/40,000 shutter speed. You can actually SEE the purple arc flashing at 60hz inside all the 'fire'
Link2

Is this the first time a Slomotion video was posted of a MOT with visible purple arc? :)

That is ridiculous.

How much did you buy that camera for?

Edit;
Looked at the price. I think I may have to sell my hdr-xr200 to get one...

Who want's a video camera?

Edit2;
Well I looked at reviews, and apparently it sucks in low light conditions, grainy indoors. Not good for me, since 80% of my vids are indoors. :-/

Grenadier, is true. Indoors is harder to do (Hince why mine is black) Things are only visable when I use my 500W Halogen light. Else, outside things are fine. I know Kizmo has the EX-F1 which costs more, but better quality. For the things I do, it works fine. I have a video on my channel of resistors exploding with highspeeds, using a 45W filament light.

If you want a better look at mot arcs in slow motion (and close up) watch this one. (Filmed with an EX-F1) Link2
