Steorn just posted another video about their technology.

Steorn's Orbo Electromagnetic Interaction COP is greater than 1. Part 1 of 5

Additional experiments are performed that seem to verify their claims.

I'm excited about the fact by the end of the month there is supposed to be calorimeter data posted!

The publicity the Steorn group has received is the only real innovation they've made.
And I just realized that this thread itself counts as publicity for the Steorn group, and that breaks the spirit of the forum rules, if not the letter of them. Hands up all who think we should delete it.

The rules forbid a discussion of the topic as if it were science. So far, this is a debunking of their approach, so it in no way breaches the rules. If we think this thread gives them any more publicity than YouTube does, then we flatter ourselves.

You could lock it. It can be fun, or frustrating, to see how these things pan out as they continually fail to work, so it's nice to have the links in one place. Maybe change the thread title to something more descriptive, or leave it mis-named so only the cogniscenti find it. I'd kind of like to see in a year or two time that they've still not got funding, or deliberately blown up a demonstrator, here would be as good a place as any to link to it.

Perhaps an entry on the wiki is called for, "Supposed over-unity machines debunked", and add Shawyer's insterstellar drive to it as well. It's always handy to have a list of things we don't want to talk about any more when we stomp on a thread. Simply deleteing this thread doesn't make it go away in the real world, it's going to come up from time to time.

It's interesting, mostly in that there are enough suckers out there to fund this operation.

Capitalism provides an interesting way of sidestepping conservation of energy as a simple rebuttal of over-unity devices: if it actually worked, they would be selling them by the boatload instead of posting youtube videos and continually gathering investors. Otherwise you just have data that you're interpreting incorrectly, which describes every over-unity device ever made.

I think the thread could stay up, as a reminder to us that free energy "science" is still out there (as it always has been), taking investment dollars away from more useful endeavors.

Nice demonstration: With an ammeter, votmeter, tachometer, (his optical one is like mine) and a simple Prony brake torque arm
the numbers could reveal what is happening. (sorry if it runs on DC
we dont need the scope.) watts in/watts out never quite got a
where close to unity in motors i tested.

Someone claimed the bearing motor was useless; untrue. I have a demo of that i use in a motors class. Lots of fellows, millwright types, told me they can make good bucks on bar bets with that.

Steorn has posted two more videos.

They claim these videos prove the E-Orbo is overunity.

What do you think?

The first thing I notied was the audience - they want to believe - I need some investors like this!

Secondly I noticed that at around 6:40 in the video we get a close-up look -
Where have the toroids gone to?
Now they're using a straightforward electromagnet - with no back emf!

The 'tech guy' doesn't look as enthusiastic as the audience!

Last, but not least, at what pont was sustainable over-unity demonstrated?

When adjusting the valves of a steam engine, an indicator card can be used. There are several ways, sub cycle, energy can returned to the the source electrically, but the methods are mechanical.
The team that found null result for overunity was headed by the EE dept of UAlberta, which is a good school, my school, and not know for error.
