I heard that's actually been implemented in malls or something with lots of people walking around.

Let's see if this is good enough to nerd-snipe someone working on the subject...

The cartoon illustrates the use of a particle solution as a large scale method to microstructure metal films embedded in a solar cell.

Back contacts structured as optical gratings have already proven to reduce light loss due to direct reflection.
When introducing sub-wavelength apertures into a metal film, both simple coupling to plasmonic surface states as well as enhanced transmission have been reported.

but then again you might just use a DVD surface...

Thought of an idea recently after watching how it's made. I've never seen an electrostatic speaker like the one they had (stood ~4ft tall and ~10in wide, could see right through it) and it used a metalized sheet of plastic as the membrane, which vibrated when a signal was applied.

I thought it might be possible to diy one using an unrolled metalized film capacitor. Not sure when I'll get around to trying it so I thought I'd just share it with you guys.

You could also use a sheet taken from a survival blanket.

Just a thought.

A system to close the door to the basement steps if my 6 month old crawls toward it. and open it if the cats are trying to go down for litter box.

Someone needs to try and make a "Carbomorph" Graetzel solar cell, using the carbomorph as both encapsulant and rear contact.

Might also work for EL, but mix the phosphor in with the polymorph and a bit of dry BaTiO3 dielectric.

Christmas ... time to try and change the world for the better wink

I don't know if anyone has come up with this (and it would kinda spoil the fun to go looking for it): Assuming that man is a creature of habit, a "directional coupler" for highway exits could be created by having drivers keep right. The wrong-way driver is presented with a junction and maybe some direction signs.

Driving

Add some spikes and water-filled barrels and you can start your personal collection of wrong-way drivers.

I'd really like to see that structure implemented :D
Of course this also works for countries where you drive on the left side.. just mirror the design then

An Excellent concept. I recommend that you should submit your idea to NHTSA. A relatively simple, yet very effective means to divert drunk drivers from the motorway entrance.

Sadly, I witnessed one of these avoidable events ending very badly (in the opposite direction on SR87 in Arizona a year ago). I was unable to notify DPS (police) quickly enough after I'd witnessed the vehicle.

Regards, Jeff
