I spent a lot of time following a huge orange and black wasp around but he was so fast that even when he almost ran over my feet I couldn't get a shot off in time.
Here is another smaller one enjoying a caterpillar snack.

I did some gardening and came across these creatures. A 5 inch centipede and a 3 inch slug.

This must be the biggest frog in Western Australia that I have seen and was on my doorstep when I got home late tonight.
It is however, quite small compared to the cane toad which is advancing towards Western Australia and is due to arrive after 2007 from the Eastern States. The cane toad grows up to 4kg and is a poisonous introduced species that is devastating to other animals and kills pets.

Ah, stupid canetoads. They arrived in the rural outskirts of Darwin last wet season, and ever since there have been a dedicated bunch known as Toad Busters who go out a few nights every week to kill the bastards.

Actually, its worked rather well, because in the inner suburbs where we are, there haven't been any sightings of them at all. Unfortunately our satellite city, Palmerston, which is about 30km south of Darwin, is crawling with them everywhere.
