Yesterday the sun actually came out in the UK. Bright enough to give some fairly good macro shots.

These were takes in my back garden with live subjects and no tripod..
Next time I think Ill try superglue to constrain the subjects. wink

Very good macros. What equipment did you use?

Nikon D70 and a 105 mm macro lens, the details are stored in the jpeg file. Using a 105 mm macro lens without a tripod is not simple even in sunlight, using a flash or several is helpful.

Nikkon D70 and a Sigma 105mm macro lens, at 1:1 on manual focus.

There is a trade off between the quantity of light and frying the subject singed bugs not make good photos.

It was a very bright day, I don't usually acheive that depth of field even with a flash.

For night time expeditions, I've built a 16 LED light ring that force fits to the end lens. It assists the flash, but its best use is getting the focus right in the first place.

But some bugs only appear at night or when its damp & gloomy.. E.g this catapillar.

And the TDU brushtail possum and baby....

Taken from our back door with the Nikon D70s and camera flash. I have just found that my old film Nikon hotshoe flash can be used at a pinch and with the flash pointed away fixes the red, green or other coloured eye problem.

This fox followed me home one morning, it was too dark to see it in the viewfinder so I missed the focus by a metre.

Taken yesterday. Title is "Pigeons prefer pigs".
Surely some funny fields going on here.

I Posted a picture of a swan on its nest last month.

The good news is the signet has hatched.

The bad news is that this is the only one that survived out of 6 eggs. The nest was quite close to the shore, so I suspect a preditor had raided the nest..

Very nice pictures, Derrek!

The Possum and the fox are also impressive, where do you find all these animals? The best I could do is this:
