Yeh that might work but its kinda risky throwing the kite in the air and then trying to run away before lightning strikes! hehe, wouldn't want to get zapped by a nice bolt :D

I actually thought about using a balloon or kite, but I was afraid it might drift over the house and you know. My field would be far enough away if I used a rocket. Not like I'd ever do it in the first place, but one can dream!

Check out the hairy animals outside my window this morning at 3:00! Sorry for the size, I don't have my pic shrinker with me. (580Kb)

I've got others, but I forgot to put them in and now I can't. Sigh. This was my first attempt at lightning photos. I was pretty impressed actually. I figured I'd come up with a bunch of blurry crap. I played with the camera settings until I found what worked best. 100ISO, max shutter (17sec) worked the best, the only problem was the camera took a long time to process the shot and I missed some really nice bolts while I was waiting. Oh, well, I got some other really nice shots too. I started out on automatic, that didn't work which figures, then I used 400ISO and 10 sec which worked better but was too bright to see the bolts among the cloud flashes. I also would cover the lens if I got a really good one because subsequent cloud flashes would white out the bolt. I didn't hook up my tripod, and just held the camera firmly against the windowsill. It worked nicely suprisingly.

Hope you enjoy!
