Arcs, I've got all the Beatles albums, and go through phases of listening to them a lot. My favourite albums are Revolver, Sgt Pepper, and Abbey Road - though any of them will do! The Doors and The Grateful Dead and Lou Reed also make great middle-of-the night listening, or Frank Zappa ('Freak Out!' and 'Hot Rats!' ) and Country Joe and The Fish 'Electric Music For the Mind and Body' if the sparks n arcs are going great at 4 a.m.!
Harry
Classic rock (almost) all the way. The Beatles are always great to work to. Rubber Soul is probably my all-time favorite, though Abbey Road is right up there. I like to mix in some Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and whatever else comes to mind -- maybe some CCR, Allman Brothers, Blue Oyster Cult (gotta have more cowbell), the Who, Dire Straits, the Rolling Stones, or Hendrix. In the last few months, my playlist has been heavy with bands I don't often listen to, such as America, the Eagles, Steve Miller Band, the Ink Spots, Warren Zevon, and Queen.
Lately, though, I've been listening to audiobooks instead. Carl Sagan's the Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark is simultaneously inspiring, uplifting, frightening, and saddening.
Some amazing choices there, Chris! I've been working all night on the engineering drawings of my new linear spark gap idea, (Rotring pens, drafting board, drawing instruments, and a slide rule - a living museum exhibit! ) So we've had Dr John's "The Night Tripper" (with Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger playing session ) in the last hour! Great stuff. And great to see folk enjoying the same kind of music as myself - I was afraid everyone would name bands I'd never heard!

I was blessed (or cursed -- depends on perspective) as a young lad, when I happened across a rather large collection of vinyl that was headed for the dumpster. All great stuff, literally hundreds of records, featuring classic rock heavily. I went out and found a really good turntable, and the rest is history. I would sit up until all hours of the night and morning, working on various projects, waiting for pages to load on my blistering 56k modem. I guess the musical tastes stuck! Good to see I'm not alone.
Were it not for copyright laws, a 4hv.org music exchange might be a really neat idea.

What a gold mine, especially if the previous owner (who I guess went digital) looked after them before junking them.
When you look at young Arcs turning onto the Beatles, I reckon that few people of any age could fail to be excited by the best of 60's rock music, if they only gave it a chance. Unlike jazz, which often sounds dated to my ear, a lot of 60s rock seems just as relevant and vital and exciting as it was 40 years ago.
As for the copyright problem of music sharing, I don't suppose there could be any problem with members sending each other mp3s down the line as a purely private matter, not officially endorsed by 4HV.org?
A bit off-topic I know, but could it be possible to read vinyl with a short-wavelength LED (say a 400 nm UV el cheapo) to provide a contactless means of playing them?

That's all I can think off.
Another cracking selection of rock, Rok!
PS Please do send me a PM when the capacitors arrive. They are coming by international recorded delivery, so you'll have to sign for them.

Hehe:-) , thanks Harry, will definitely send PM should come in the following week?
Have to add that I also like the choice of music on this forum, there has not been one mentioned performer that I dislike!
It's amazing how many of us like Rok ( ) music, isn't it? I can feel a PhD thesis coming on here, Rok -
"The social role of rock music in a technical population" - a sequel to my DSc thesis on "The Rye Content of Pumpernickel As An Agency in The Decline of the Hohenzollern Dynasty" which lead to my appointment as Professor of Balloon Theory at the Broadmoor Lighter Than Air School - whose famous campus has now been taken over by the Briitsh faculty of MacDonald's Hamburger University.

Another great post Harry.
I am pretty passionate about music, and i'll enjoy listening to anything. I use Winamp with shuffle, and i've got about 700 different songs on my harddisk. So choosing one is pretty much impossible. But ill press next a few times and post whatever come up:
The first one up is Blues Travelers - Secret Agent Man. Then comes Røyksopp, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Joan Jett, The Verve, Smashmouth, Elvis Presley, The Monkees, Jonny Cash, Oh and there is Boston Symphony Orchestra's version of the Legend of Zelda theme song, Sie Gubba (lokal band), Aerosmith, The Monkees again, Coldplay, Linking Park, Kansas, Black Sabbath, Willie Nelson, Guru Josh Project, Amy McDonald, Aqua, Modern Talking, Led Zeppelin, Basshunter, Enya, Bruce Springsteen, Nightwish, Toto, Tim O'Brien, The Police, Rihanna, Bonnie Tyler, The Rembrandts, Muse, Alabama, Otis Redding, Multicyde, Pink Floyd, Guns N' Roses and so on...
