Herr Zapp, about the cap bank capacitance, i forgot to edit what i said :P. I was not very clear.

It looks great! I would say it is close to optimum performance, at least without some extreme tinkering. Though, a srsg would probably give you better performance, but it seems to me you are doing just fine with a static gap. Maybe even better than a srsg! But, if you wanted to try one, it is definately possible to make one easily, such as a microwave oven fan. I made a synchronous rotary spark gap with one, and it never looses sync, unless you put more of a load than the disk itself. A bit of mains voltage sag did not affect it.

Srsg's do sound cooler though :D.

Good luck!

Great work Eni, nice to see it fully operational.
Well done!!
yes at last after 4 months. :) during testing this coil, it didn't gave me much problem like unwanted arcing.

Great job! That is a beautiful piece of work, and the performance is very good.

This is a perfect example of the results that can be obtained by taking the time to do the required research, and then assembling the coil with craftsmanship and attention to detail.

A few questions:
1. What is the strip of aluminium foil on the floor to one side of the coil? Is this a counterpoise?
2. If the aluminium foil is not a counterpoise, what are you using as an RF ground?
3. What is the gap spacing that you are using in your sucker gap?
4. What is your next step with this coil? More tuning, more input power (another NST), or ???

Regards,
Herr Zapp

thank you Herr Zapp, this is because of you taking time helping me all the way.:)

1. Yes, i used aluminum foil as a counterpoise. it worked actually. I can't bring it outside because well, a typhoon. flood everywhere.
2. Someday it will have its own RF ground outside. I'm looking for a nice location at the moment.
3. The gap spacing is 0.25" more the you've recommended. 0.35 mm more? hehe.
4. Okay there are things lingering in my mind

-More tuning maybe?
-add bigger toroid?
-build rotary spark gap?
-SGTC? maybe no but will upgrade it. if yes, a MOT PSU. my next step building another coil would be a DRSSTC.
ohhh another long time reading about drsstc. back to basics:)
any suggestions?
