I have some trouble getting in contact with Bob Golding regarding Cambridge Teslathon.

Is there a Teslathon at the old pumping station this year, and what date is it?

Finn, Mads and I have talked about going to the UK for the Teslathon, and we want to bring some coils here from Denmark smile

There is only a month or so to get tickets, and find some kind of hostel to stay at... So I am a bit stressed, and I only have a month to build Diable Tonnere!

Who else is going besides Mel?

Cheers, Daniel

Well, my son & I were certainly intending to go - I too am under pressure to finish a new coil & washer-tosser...

Best guess seems to be October 31st, but I'm not the organiser wink

Hi Dan, Nick

i've mailed Bob telling him about this thread topic.
i would also guesstimate the date being the 31st of October.

Here's hoping you guys get your coils built in time,
i'm sooo looking forward to seeing them!

Mel.

I asked bob about it on Saturday, and this is the answer I got:

hi anders, the teslathon is on the 31st october and 1st november. still waiting
for the official ok but assume it will be ok.

So plane tickets will be booked in short order, and I hope to see a lot of Scandinavians there smile

Bob has asked for me to post this.. As he has log on issues...

just got the official ok for cambridge so no need to bring a tent, kelvar boby armour might be a good procaution though.

This year we are mainly having tesla coils. and the odd home made can crusher and exploding wire. hopefully not the 32 amp cee form. they have rewired the building so not sure about rcds ect. i am sure we will test them for them anyway. it is the 10 anniversary this year so rather than a fixed charge, hee, hee, i am going to just ask for donations this time. i need to make around 100 pounds to cover the costs, anything extra will go the museum. anyone who hasn't been before feel free to email me at photoman290atyahoodotcom.

cheers
bob

All,

Bob has just sent me this and asked me to post here (he is still having log-in issues)

Cambridge details. The 10th Cambridge Teslathon is on Saturday the 31st October and Sunday 1st November at the Cambridge museum of Technology Chedders lane Cambridge.

The site is next to Tesco off Newmarket road. there is plenty of parking in Chedders lane and you can drive up the building to unload. as you drive into the museum we are in the single story building on the right, next to the sea cadets. admission as by donation.

The rest of the museum is also open and in steam that weekend as well. admission to the museum as 5 pounds, I think, and well worth it. but this is optional. They are a charity and don't receive any grants. all the people working there are volunteers I have to recover my costs which are around 100 pounds.

Anything extra will be donated to the museum. we usually retire to the pub around the corner which also serves excellent Thai food, and there is also a chippy just down the road,as well as a big tescos next
door. you can drop stuff off on Friday evening and start setting up from 11.00 am Saturday. Although this is a private event there will be museum visitors around from about 2.00 pm so be aware that they might not be familiar with Tesla coils, so when doing demo's can we try and keep to one coil at a time please, at least until 5.00 pm. When the museum closes.

After that its just us. no pumpkins and thermite this year unless Mark puts in an appearance. any questions email me at **link** or if lost on the day phone on 07866037094.

Sunday will be a bit quieter but there will still be plenty going on. if you want to find out the finer details of the Tesla coils and the finer details this would be a good day to come along. see you all there.

Bob Golding

Pictures from this years Cambridge Teslathon are here Link2

Thanks to Bob for organising it and all of the coilers who attended to make it a great weekend.

And a big thanks to the Cambridge Museum of technology for allowing us to use their hall and power.
