Hi guys,
one of the EU members may be able to help me here. I'm looking for a university that offers a bachelor of Electrical Engineering course in English, close to Brussels, say within 200km. Recommendations? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Cheers, M

Don't know if they offer a course in English though if they do the tech university of eindhoven may be a good choice, going there too. You might want to look things up on their webpage Link2

Hi Dalus,
Netherlands is pretty close! Thanks for your recommendation -- I've scoured the site and couldn't be sure if Bachelor programs other than Industrial Design and Business are offered in English, so I've sent them an email...

Ideas?

The site is kinda messy that's why I couldn't find if they offer the course in English. I do know that all the textbooks are in English.

I'll start my EE education there on 31-08 smile

Actually, I'll admit I'm specifically poo-pooing the UK and Ireland... assuming I can actually find an English course in the EU.

Well, poo-poo to you too!:-p

(There's always my alma mater, the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.)

KU Leuven (about 30km from Brussels) runs some of its coursework in English, but mostly at the Masters and PhD level. I am not sure about VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) in Brussels, but I think most undergraduate stuff will be in Dutch or French. Universiteit Gent will be like Leuven...undergraduate stuff mostly in Dutch. This covers the three main unis with good EE departments. There are probably some lesser-known schools catering to international students, but this will require intensive googling.

I also think the uni al Louvain-la-Neuve has EE, but you will certainly have to learn French.

Dutch is not that hard to learn for English speakers...maybe you would consider doing a 6 month intensive Dutch class...if you really want to study in Belgium or the Netherlands.

What is making you consider leaving those splendid NSW beachfronts to come to Belgium?

I'm guessing it has something to do with French fries, Hoegaarden, or Van Damme. smile

I have an EU passport I'd like to make use of. You're right, I did notice many Masters/PhD level courses readily available in English, but unfortunately so far I have only seen aerospace engineering available as an English bachelor.

In my searches there are many colleges with what almost look like fly-by-night websites :P but I worry that I do not have the discipline to learn Dutch. I wish I was five years old again, when it would be easy wink

Although, if I am living in a country where I must speak dutch in order to eat and pay my rent, that may be some motivation!
