What is this? An old hydro-electric generator?

Yep smile It is a Siemens generator, built in 1912.

.. your neighbors watch you from across the street when there's a blackout or their TV looses signal.
...your stormwater pipes have been pulled from the side of your house for a coil form.
...the RF cops drive down your street.
...you pull over on the side of the road to get a picture of the power poles and what they hold. (*cough*)
... you walk up to a metal power pole and stick your ear on it to hear the buzz from the transformer above (Done that too surprisingly)

Here it's just when your dad thinks your going to burn and/or explode the house down. And now I know why I have a free mini fire extinguisher in my room.

...you go to all kind of tech demonstrations - they make you smile and think "woah, reminds me of myself 20 years ago - what a days, now it all got so much more complicated"

...your girlfriend likes you - indeed, who can enjoy shops more then you, those places got so many of those wrapper tape holders it may take hours to choose the best 2m one for your tiny TC.

...you smoke while thinking on your next project, although you have no lighters at home - lighters are for heretics.

...you accidentally wrote a cooking book featuring 1000+ meals that can be cooked on a MOT.

...you never released it though - who needs MOTs if everyone has 10+ polepigs around (they surely do - if you alone have 50+ that's either weird or most got at least a couple)

...you scavenge polepigs officially and give them back to electrical company - your tiny diesel power plant needs a few tons of fuel a month, that's kinda expensive ;)

...you don't own a decent cellphone - there's no network coverage around for years now anyway, but the older ones at least have IR port so you can use them as controllers.

...your neighbors all wear faradey cage costumes. What a bunch of freaks - like they don't know your TC melts a solid metal sheet in seconds.

...your VTTC only runs for a second - the 5cm steel breakout rod melts too fast

...your son's physics teacher rings up sounding really worried to see if you know what you are doing...

My son's physics teacher asked him what we were doing in the lab at home (he knows we make stuff). When my son answered "A new design of Tesla Coil", he asked "Does he know what he's doing?" to which my son answered "Not at all"...

... your solicitor doing your draft will, rings up worried after seeing you on TV making big sparks .. (I didn't have to make this one up).

... the Department of Energy Safety inspector finds your place and walks up the drive in a Faraday suit. (Actually, I made up the bit about the suit)

... A doctor friend (from my home town of Bunbury, Australia) while in an Indian Restaurant in London, reading the Guardian paper, saw me as the double page centrefold, nearly choking on his vindaloo. (He sent me the paper and the story this week but I made up the vindaloo bit.)

... you have 3 Tesla coil projects in mind that have not been seen on the net anywhere. (I'd tell you but I'd have to kill you).

... you just have the 4th idea while typing this. It involves music and SF6. Definitely not done before.

Inhale the SF6 and sing a Barry White medley. By the way, we see you in the papers regularly over here.
