Since we are on the subject of ridiculous ideas, lets say we paralleled up 1 million strings of 1 million 12V 100Ah marine batteries, put it into orbit around uranus, and discharged it into jupiter's second red spot. What would happen then??
Thats easy: A chain reaction resulting in the Planet transforming into a star, and the Earth burns up.
Jeeze EVR, what a silly idea. You know you could just use a death ray to achieve the same results, duh...

EVR, the thought of uranus discharging makes me want to both laugh and cry. Now as for Jupiter, It might not turn into a star but given how much of it is hydogen, >85% of it, you might get a hell of a plasma sphear.

It would depend on what duration the batteries would remain batteries too - as opposed to a burned mess. The plasma from that many batteries would surely result in the batteries melting away quite quickly
