Ah ok thanks, I see now. Does the voltage rating have to be as high as the mur1560's? Or could I get away with about 200 volts. I have a nice big variac so that'l make the voltage adjustment simple.

I finally got around to finish the article for my homepage, some day in a distant future, progress might find its way back to this project: Link2

Mads if you applied your circuit to RateReducer's ferrite transformer and igbt set up you might have something

Just wired this up, worked really well then one mosfet went pop. Looking at it all afterwards the heatsinks were very warm, and the oscillator was only giving 3.2v to the GDT. I replaced the mosfet that blew and still no joy. Should the oscillator be providing more than 3.2v to the gates? I assume this would lower the source drain resistance, so also the likelihood of my irfp260s blowing up.

my oscillator is producing 7v max, and the drivers get very hot very quickly, and I've had two blow. What do you think?

Upon closer inspection only one of the drivers is getting hot, and i gets very hot! Could this be because the internal resistances of the components aren't matched so one is drawing more current? How could i get around this? And the voltage supplied differs with different GDT, to some it supplies 3.5v to others 7v, why is this and does this matter?

Do you use the primary that is inside the flyback or do you wind your own. If I can wind my own would 10 turns be ok

Hey, i built a TL494 circuit just like this one... what did i do wrong to make it go from 55-100% duty cycle....

Did you set up the TL494 for push-pull operation? Look at page 2 in the datasheet Link2
