Dr. Spark, Tonskulus's primary on the outside of his oscillator has high circulating current and there would be loses if you moved it away from the box. What I was thinking is to maby put the tube in with the supply and connect rg217 or larger coax from the plate to the primary tank where circulating current would be high. The current from the plate I would think would be no more than 2 to 10Apeak. the advantage to putting it with the supply is that the filiment transformers and other support electronics have to go with the tube. As you have stated and you are not the only one that has said to me, the tube should go with the tesla to keep the enegy localized witch may still happen and has addvantages to.
It may also be pausible have a primary with less turns using Tonskulus circuit or a matching network. I recently aquired a spectrum analizer to tune stuff there probibly frequency spliting going on like DRSSTC's

Yes, my circuit has more losses compared to standard vttc circuit using very high impedance primary. My VTTC system was just an experiment and it seemed to work just fine. Is there any advantages? Yes, 1-2turn easy primarycoil for tesla.
Remote RF tank circuit is also possible in many ways. Just put yout tube in power supply box, use some heavy coax cable to feed tank box. Feedback circuit can be located in tube/psu enclosure or in tank box. You can use separate feedback transformer in tube/psu box: primary connected between plate output (after dc block cap) and GND.
Feel free trying different kinds of tube oscillators for teslacoil duty. We mostly see that standard tuned plate circuit in VTTC. I have made some tests using hartley and colpitts oscillators also, both gave very good results! These oscillators has no need for separate ticklercoil. Feedback is adjusted by moving centertap on tank coil(hartley) or tank cap(colpitts).
