OOOooo... Now this reminds me of one of my "i must get around to it" projects.
KXPA4 triple axis acclerometer, PIC, microphones and some aditional control surfaces as active feedback. It could work, and you could add in an acoustic ceiling detector and height limit as well as "return to base" logic.
The idea being that if it starts to get knocked off course the PIC adjusts the surfaces to correct the problem.
Also, the main problem with scaling up is the battery- LiPo's are lightweight but they don't scale too well- you are better off using two small packs and switching between them than one large pack. -A
