With a good 7 weeks or so of building and experiments the Kaizer SSTC II stands a total of 56 cm from bottom to topload!

Its uses the slightly modified driver board from my version of Wards mini sstc, audio modulator by Reaching and a fullbridge of IRFP460 mosfets.

There is a great deal of pictures and a small film in this article I wrote about it: Link2

I hope you enjoy it as much as it have brought me wide smiles and lesser than lethal ozone exposures :D

Here is a couple of teasers

It died a while back while playing music on my audio modulated flyback, it wasn't designed for high voltage transients :D

I have only blown MOSFETs when it was a halfbridge, and that was mostly because I made some mistakes, that you can read here: Link2

the fullbridge is only passive cooled, no heating at all when running in interrupted or audio modulated mode, but in continues wave mode they get too hot to touch in a minute or two.

I get flashovers from primary to secondary before MOSFET failures it seems :)

Here is a little teaser of the new 20 cm diameter frying pan topload I put together today.

I broke off the handles, sanded it flat and drilled a hole through each pan, simple and teflon coated!

Performance pictures/film will have to wait abit till my workdesk is clear of sensitive projects :D

Looking good madskaizer, the video you made of this coil is one of the primary reasons I opted for an SSTC project instead of a VTTC one. Congrats on a great running SSTC.

How many FETs did you sacrifice to the lightning gods? :)

I like the topload, how much did it cost, those fancy pans are quite expensive I suppose?

Thanks :)

I only blew FETS on this coil when it was still a halfbrigde configuration, now its fullbridge and have yet to blow. As a halfbridge I blew like 4 or 6, mostly due to too high voltages on the brigde.

I found these pans in a supermarket at only 10$/7€ a piece, so I felt it was worth it to get two

That was a very nice deal for a topload of that quality. I was always under the impression that all pots and pans were quite expensive, especially ones as nice as those.

Post up a new video after you clear your desk and get it running. ;D The coil is definitely looking good.
