How can I tell if they have a built in diode? I am buying them off the eletronics goldmine.

AFAIK, all fets have built-in diodes just from their structure...

ya, but they are not that great of a diode. Some fets have an extra diode in the package for applications where you need a real diode across the fet.

As to finding the parts, that looks good. A few words of warning,
Those zeners are extreemly important. Even if you drive the gates of a seperate 12v supply you need them. Also, check the often. Just take a 12v supply with like 100 ohm resistor in series with it, and touch it to the gate with a voltmeter attached. If you do net get the zeners rated voltage replave it. If they fail you WILL kill fets (I killed like 10 460's before I realised wtf was going on).

The tank cap must be designed for high rf currents. Even those will heat up and die after a while if you are not carefull. Also, 33ufd is way too much, you want something in the 1-3 ufd range.

The wires connecting the tank cap to the flyback primary and the primary must be huge, like 10awg. It is hard to fit that size wire in the flyback you posted (I have a few of them), but use the biggest you can.

BTW, those flybacks you posted are great little guys, but they cannot handle high powers for very long. In my old sale/trade thread I have a little evaluation of them... (about 1/2 way down).

In my new for sale/trade thread I have all of the parts you need to build them... I also have tons (ok, like 30 lbs) of flybacks if you are interisted (some the same size as the cs ones, some larger--all similar prices).

Good luck and my tesla be with you tongue

Ok almost done here the almost final list…

1. 24V CT (12-0-12)4A TRANSFORMER

2. 24V CT (12-0-12)10A TRANSFORMER

3. UF4007 Rectifier; 1.7V; 1A; 1000V; 700Voltage, RMS

4. OY471K Resistor, Ceramic, Axial, 2 Watt, 10%, 470

5 GBPC2502 200V 25Amp Bridge Rectifier

6. 1uF 600VDC Film Capacitor

7. IRFP350 400V 16Amp Mosfet

8. 12K 1/4 watt Resistor (Pkg of 100)

9. Flyback Transformer ETF-30L316AYT.

Theirs my list, but what about those 12v recifters in the original flyback driver, BTW that’s what I am building, the original driver.
Here will be 24 volts at 14 amps for power,

… PM me about those ZVS kits.

Not too sure abut these two, the lower current xfmr will most likely output higher voltage (without load), so it will draw current even without load, but it should be fine. another thing is you must get right phasing of the secondaries so you dont smoke your transformers.

Edit- I was reffering to paralleling those transformers^^

They might work, but the on-resistance is pretty high (240moh, instead of 73mohm), so it will run hotter. But I would say it should work...

You should also get some stripe-board PCBs, and get plenty of spares of all the parts.

Will these work better than [http://www.excesssolutions.com/cgi-bin/item/ES1269]

I costuted a crude ZVS last night, shades havent tried it yet. neutral

Both have their benifits, the first is ac, and the second is dc. I'd get one or two of each, as the wallet allows.

are you sure the first ones are ac? The fact that they have the crt connector right on them seems to imply that they are DC (not needing the external rectifier)
