Or better, add a circuit to control the average arc current.

Probably not exactly on topic, but I'm trying to do this for about half a year but haven't succeeded. The driver is a flyback converter (single switch).
The arc whistles (unstable feedback) or it works OK until I draw the arc too far when it starts screeching and sometimes kills my transistor. I have tried many circuits (simple lowpass+op-amp, "integrating" amplifier) and controllers (sg3525, tl494) but no luck. If this topis is of interest, we can start a new thread.

Well guys, I don't know if thats it. Because when I leave the flyback out (still had the wire there, just no flyback), I get high pitched noise from some component (replaced all main components piece and still get the noise)
What would produce high pitches? Capacitors don't right?

I can't locate teh noise cause everything is close together.

I can buy another flyback and see if that helps, but I don't think its the only issue.......

Do you think that my second schematic, the 30V, is regulated enough with the capacitor? I don't have the Q5 there:

Again, I am only using the top part.

The gate drive transformer is the main suspect of the noise.
Top part of what?

The mosfet???

can you point to which one, or just test em all???

I was talking about this one:

That's how I am getting my voltage supply.. I don't to use batteries.

My hypothesis:
I am getting the 30V (a little higher, but ok) in one line A-OK but the other line, something is wrong with a component and running slow??? Therefore, its not keeping up with the oscillations. In the end I get a slightly weaker flyback arc.

Originally when it failed I was flashes of arcs, appearing like lightning... dialing R3 all teh way to one side, I guess it was less dependent on the other half, and compensated?

I dunno, very complicated and redic o_O

you should not hear any high pitched sound. If you hear it, increase the frequency until it disappears, in the case of the half-bridge, you should increase it even more.

oh... i did not have my flyback hooked up just wire (to troubleshoot)

The noise is the rectifier, but i am getting 30V s i dunno why its whining. o_O

However, turning the frequency all the way up and messin with the other dial i still get small arcs and crappy noise , music hard to hear.
