No, i was confused on how they could get three phase power out with only two phase power in. But 3l3ctrici7y explained that the third connection is the center tap. I must admit now that i know, that is quite obvious

The 'thick wire' that you're talking about in a T.V. is actually called a degaussing wire. I just thought I'd interject that.
