It would be nice to be able to find data sheets on flybacks to tell you what is what and the voltage on primary and secondary or rather it has a DC or AC output.

The capacitor is connected between the output and one of the pins below, usually one of the pins out of the arc of pins. It's possible to insulate that pin with a big drop of hot glue, and so effectively disconnect the capacitor from the circuit. To use the capacitor in the circuit, that pin must be connected to circuit ground. A shock from it is something that will be remembered...

Try the HR Diemen website for flyback pinouts and data. I've ordered flybacks from them before to mend TVs.
