The coilgun itself starting to come together, ended up with 2x 3300µF 350V capacitors, so a total of 404J @ 350V, the static charger(previous posts) only charges to ~322 volts though. Will see what the mobile charger does once I make it :P..

Still lots to be done ...

Alright then, another slow update coming up!

I've hooked up the first capacitor to both firing and charging system, as you can see the construction is getting sloppier since I'm quite tired of this coilgun already, I'll just finish it to learn more about optogate triggering which is the next step.

The DC plug is for the external charger, which can be controlled by the C0/C1 switch, B1/B0 controls shuts off/on the onboard battery power stored further back in the stock.

So far the performance is promising, 20m/s from 320V 3300µF, which should equal around 6.6% efficiency with the 56gram projectile. Hopefully I'll get >30m/s with second stage.

Well this is just getting messy and doesn't seem to spark much interest. It's all so unplanned from the start that it's getting hard to get things together in a good way..

I'm already planning my next coilgun so .. Few more stages, smaller projectile, different layout, and so on.

Worked a bit on the trigger schematics.
Th Triggerschematics

Slightly worried about the second stage going on due to electrical noise or something.. I were originally planning to use a 7404 for inverting the signal from the photogate but I reasoned that using this I'd skip the entire voltage-regulator history for the IC and thus reduce some hazzle..
