Seems like a transformer like this would be very useful in a capacitor charger (connected in reverse). It would also be useful as a generic power supply transformer.

What do you think?

WOW 404 error xD
Nice transformer, may be able to power that directly from a zvs driver because the primary (in our case) is centertapped.

404 here too.
I think that would work great, due to its high frequency and small size. Where can you buy them?

That's what I want to know; too bad you can't get samples or order online.

If the link isn't working you can paste the URL into the address bar. I can't seem to fix the link.

for the thousandth time, you can either put the link without url tags and (just put the link in the text of your post) and it will turn into a green arrow Link2
or put it in a url tag replacing 'hyperlink url' with your url, and putting text inside the tag omg 400v uuber transfomer click!!!11

(you can click the 'quote' button to see the code used to make this post

In any case, if they will sell you one it seems like a resonably easy way to make a capacitor charger, but you may as well just steel a transformer out of an atx psu, I would expect it to have similar ratings (although you may have to use a fullwave votlage doubler or the likes on the output to get a full 400v out of it)

Whoops, didn't know about that feature. I haven't seen anywhere before how to do this, but I also haven't tried quoting another post.

Anyway, I wanted to point this particular transformer out, because I don't like to salvage parts due to possible variation or unavailability (if the salvaged part is destroyed). If I ever get my hands on one of these transformers and create a capacitor charger, I'll post about it.

The link you placed is broken because of a </br> tag.

hmm, I guess the ZVS isn't very usefull here. The resulting frequency will be floating and will cause different resonant effects that may become harmfull. I'd recommand an open-loop push-pull driver running on the recommended 150kHz instead.

What's wrong with a series light bulb + rectifier/voltage multiplier for charging caps? Easy and relaible.
