Also on the modulator box, I would vote for a fully plastic construction with internal shielding, so you don't risk RF burns from the box wink

I always preferred to use a metal box that was solidly grounded, and keep a firm hold of it at all times, so there was plenty of contact area and hence the current density in my hand wouldn't get high enough to burn. Since the box is the controls for the coil, you naturally grab hold of it before firing up, and turn the coil off before putting it down.

With fiber optic isolation, it's a moot point. There's no path for the current to take, so you won't get RF burns no matter what the box is made from.

Anyway nice project, let's see it working :) I would vote for the cone primary myself.

What is the best varnish for Tesla coils ? and how varnish secondary coil, that look smooth ?
i madded low speed coil twisting machine, and i will use long freezing epoxy glue mixed with acetone, to reduce bubbles (like 1 part acetone 10 part epoxy glue), and varnished at least 1mm thickness confused

I was wondering what happened to this project....
Great job on the MMC, don't know how you managed to solder then that close without burning it.
Looking forward to the SMPS too.

Little update
I get new IGBT for bridge, they can handle same current at double voltage, so now i have 450A 1200V Full bridge.
also i get 2m x 1m x 10mm PMMA green clear glass, so now just question, how to cut it ? ( well, i found laser workshop, but 1m cut line cost 8$, and my cut line is up to 15m, so it's quite expensive dead
IGBT are FF450R12KE4

Can't you cut the plexi at home? 8 euro a meter is quite expensive. Plexi can be cut by scorching a line in it with a very sharp blade. Then but the scorch line on the edge of a table and bend te plexi till it breaks. It will leave a clean cut. You might want to practice this with a few left overs first to get the hang of it.

Don't know how it scalesup to 10mm thick plexi. Thickest I tried was 5mm

Anyway looking forward to see some groundstrikes from your toy smile
