I guarentee it is authenic, if you dot like it, send it back. I bought it as authentic and will trade it as authentic, of if nobody wants some will keep it as authentic. I am not going to spend the money to pay for an expensive scan of the material just to trade it. I assure you this stuff is not molten sand, it is authentic trinitite. Id rather keep the material then have people accuse me of trading fake material.

believe me you will be happy with this trinitite.

I don't think anyone means to directly accuse you of offering fake trinitite for trade. They're just pointing out, quite rightly, that without any sort of certificate of authenticity, its market value is much lower. Even if they accept your assertion that the trinitite is authentic, they'll never be able to turn around and sell it as such, so it's pretty much just a conversational piece. As long as you're taking this into consideration with what you expect in trade, I don't think it's a huge issue. However, if you expect it to be valued just the same as trinitite that can be authenticated, you're not likely to find any takers.

is there a local university that might be willing to do it?
I know that students at my school have easily been able to work with the local universities for projects, and I am sure that if not all of your samples, at least a couple of the samples...

What did you mean, then, when you wrote earlier, "David Bowers accuired this Trinitite from the Los Alamos Missile testing range in the early 1970's"

i did not even notice that small line...
all of the Authentic Trinitie was collected within a very short time after the blast, then BURIED and a short while after, and NO ONE is allowed by the US Government to collect any more...
they don't even normally allow civilians on the grounds except on their designated open houses (first Saturday of October and April IIRC)

Now I wonder if I should have the ore sample I just received from him checked out at the local university (no offense, but I am paranoid when even a small conflicting detail comes up from the same person)... after all, it is a trade for some of the U-238 Metal I have...

Someone deffinately needs to have this stuff checked out at a lab if your looking to get anything substantial in return for it. (Have them print out the results from a scan showing the Cs-137 being present).I really hope your not getting for its radioactivity, as it sucks. Get some uraninite on ebay for a good time!
