 		You can do either way, I personally like to keep the bottom grounded and where I have ground traces on the top I like to put via's to tie the top ground to the ground plane.

I'm not to experienced with Teslas but I built a few RF amps that goes up in the 30MHz and also some at 144MHz

A tesla is on paper a few hundred KHz but since we are trying to maintain square waves it is good to treat it as a RF amp in my mind.
