I think what you probably need is our "Single Transistor Flyback" Circuit.
I think what he needs is a "zvs flyback driver". This driver should really take place of the STFD, as it uses just a few more components, MOSFETs are cheap nowadays and the performance difference is just huge.

Hmm. . . the HvWiki is still down?
Well here is a link to what I'm talking about.

Then once you have that one built, you can do a "Plasma Tweeter" audio modulated Flyback.

This would probably earn you the quick and easy "Passing grade" until you can find a nice NST.

A Tesla coil is not the easiest "Project" to do in a crunch.
See, the issue with a Tesla Coil is not just the NST, it's everything else you need that makes it a challenging project.
If you are still set on making one, then this is the right place to have come, though.

That would have been very nice but I cant change it now, I already told in college that I will be going for tesla coil :(
Now I cant change my project else it would give a negative response to teachers :(
Not just that
I want to really make it
I was inspired by the design of Peter Terrain, here you can see

I am just like passionate about making it, now all the time I am awakew I think of what will I do with that part of tesla coil and what with that. lol

Well, I happen to have a 277 volt primary, 12kv/30ma secondary nst gathering dust in my garage. However, it has GFI protection which is not very ideal for coil use. You might be able to fuss with it and get the circuit out of it, but that's up to you. Also, I live in California, so shipping might be a bit expensive.

That will be great, just have to know abt shipping cost estimate before saying yes :(

Edit:Okay I just called a company, they have a transformer without any protection and exact rating that I needed the only problem is they are not in my state, they are on like 2 day journey away and they dont want to mail it to me, they say come and buy :(
I am gonna go through my friends if anyone have a relative in that city. :)

anyone used "TeslaMap5"??
I found this today
OMG!! This software is simply amazing, so easy to use and understand, and the calculations are mind blowing ^_^

I meant you can use the TV transformer to power your Tesla coil. If you get the potted one, just connect it to the tank circuit like normal because it outputs DC.

you need to find a thrown away TV cheesey Look by the side of roads, in junkyards or recycling centers. You can also get just the transformer, they are often cheap on ebay etc.
