Hey guys, was just randomly browsing through fairchild's website and i came across the final stock of HGT1N40N60A4D isotop igbt's are at farnell. Here is the link if it brings you to a page with a bunch of countries listed then click on the "farnell export" button in the upper right corner and that whould bring you to the homepage and then just search HGT1N40N60A4D and it should bring it up. Anyway i was thinking if someone "not me because i don't have the money" do a bulk buy on these things or if not i just wanted to post this here in case somebody wants to get the final stock of these classic igbt's.

I guess $35 is better than what you would pay the parts hoarder that will probably end up buying them... But if you are just looking for transistors the going rate currently is more alone the lines of $20, and really we should be moving away from the almost ancient technology used in the 40n60's

Yeah true but its not the technology that were holding on to its the damn isotop package that seems to be slowly disappearing. I just want something that works so I can finish one of my coils.

It seems that all the isotop's are being replaced by to247 packages and they don't have nearly the thermal conduction or beefyness of the isotop packages. $20 per igbt if you buy 50 is really a good price compared to the $45 they used to be. It also seems that the isotop package itself is becoming less popular with all manufactures of igbt's.

Here is a nice IGBT that Dan McCauley told me would work with the minibrute.
There are a boatload of them at Quest components with no minimum to buy. I bought 6 of them about a year ago for my minibrute and while my project is on hold till the baby gets a little older, I sent some to Kreso in Croatia and they worked fine for his.
This should be the link for Austins thread on page 7, scroll down a bit and you'll see me ask about these.
Here is the main difference: the 40 is rated for 200A with a 55 fall time and the 30 is rated at 150A with a 58 fall time.
This is the link to quest
They are the SOT-227 package you guys are looking for.

Thanks for the tip! I ordered 12 of them from Quest for the $7.80 price. According to Octopart they're going for over $19 from any of the other places that have any in stock. I hope Quest doesn't come to their senses any time soon.
Edit: If anyone plans on a bulk buy, the HGT1N30N60A4D (if Quest keeps them at this price) would really seem to be the item to go for!

Their web site isn't exactly helpful. The best you may be able to do is search through their inventory listing or search for specific part numbers. They don't appear to have an IGBT category.

How come when I search their website for IGBT's nothing comes up?
I only ever used Octopart to find parts and data sheets, otherwise I could never find anything at Quest.
Octopart is cool because you can get an idea on who all has the part you are looking for, and about for how much they are selling it for.
Sometimes you'll find a supplier that you didn't know existed that just happens to have a hard to find part gathering dust in their warehouse. I usually call them up and say, did you have this part? You did, could I get it for this price? and Blammo, rather than loose a sale of a piece that they have had forever, they'll drop the price to what I can afford as long as I order enough of them to meet their minimum credit card amount.
Quest has them, rest assured. And for as cheap as octopart says.
