Just a suggestion. It would be better if the chat room opened in a new tab/window, if its not hard =)

Hello,

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I've updated the chat room again. It now uses a much prettier interface, with many many more features, thanks to Mibbit. This should also solve the problem of having nicknames hang around for a long time after the chat window closes unexpectedly.

Mibbit still uses only port 80, so it should be relatively firewall-proof and easy to connect with.

Also note that we've been working hard to clean up the content of the room, so if you haven't been by lately, feel free to drop in and say hello.

There should only be one ad at the top, no popups or dropdowns or anything like that. They are going to release a premium version at some point, so maybe at that time we can look at the cost and see if it's worth taking up a collection to remove the ads. Overall, it seems like a small price to pay for having a highly portable client. You're always able to use your own IRC client, ad-free.

WARNING! The below solution wasn't well-tested!
hehe I came up with a temporary solution for the Opera users. The trick works as follows: log in under a different username, hit Ctrl+U, and look for a line saying "google.load("ads", "1");". Guess what you should fix there ;) Hit "Apply" and reconnect with your real username. Now - say bye-bye to ads ;)
