I made it FM modulated and I get a cleaner, high frequency sound.
Today, I tried to test another circuit, which has two mosfets (I just transformed the Circuit 2 in this Circuit, without doing changes to the IC part and adding that fan controller. However, it doesn't work, the arc powers up when one mosfet is powered and the other disconnected, but it doesn't when both are powered. Any suggestions ?

Probally a mistake at TL494 wiring, because its need to be 90º Phased as other output. I havent used much the TL494, but see if the wiring is correct.

hey franky,

you mention you had 5cm sparks and decent fidelity?

were you using circuit 1 to get those results?

could a person use these circuits to drive a TC to the same effect if there was a feedback coil involved?

last, how could a person build a beefier coil that would operate in a similar fashion, but use slightly higher power?

i'd like to get about 100db out of it. know of any commercially available flyback transformers that could make that happen?

No, those results came from the following circuit
Link2
The sound was not good enough, and to weak to use (if you lower the frequency it starts to make a lot of noice, but no music).

Strange. I can open it. It works fine. Are there more people who can't open the link?

your link works fine, I have been following this thread. I want to make an audio modulated flyback some time.

Try your local electronics recycling depot or thrift store. You might have to pay $5 bucks for a monitor at a thrift store but the electronics depot will usually just let you take one or two for FREE :) Thats where I get most of my parts.
