One more suggestion, I liked the "recent posts" feature of the old forum which appeared at the bottom of the forum page, this made it easy to select which threads you are interested in. Also the system of this forum sometimes doesn't work properly, it sometimes shows threads which you haven't read as read.

A shout box may just make #hvcomm go downhill...

Also just fixed it to work without anything special. Give it a try: . mIRC or another client will give you a richer and more flexible experience, but if you just want to get in there and chat, the web interface will do fine.
