hi aonomus before Dr. Spark gets power crazed on your thread you can get 811's at "rf parts" for a resonable price. a matched pair of 811h's are 69.90 and a Quad 811h is 140. the great thing about thease tubes are that the sockets are only 3.50$ ea. the thing about rf parts is that there is a 25$ minimum so buy the sockets when you buy the tubes. 833a's are as low as 89$. hope this helps N.B.

Why not? they are better than Chinese, i am sure. Russian tubes always seem the best, but what do i know? 4 matched 811a's for 10 bucks, but i am sure that shipping to Canada will suck.

UPDATE: they only ship to USA. Didn't look.

Treavolt is this not said earlier, a bit confused here?

It's probably just not obvious from the link. The automatic link-replacement image makes it hard to see the URL in a quick scan unless you hover over the image.

I did some business with RF Parts a while back, and they were great, so I can vouch for them.

I would stuck with the tubes that have several 'fins' sticking off of the plate (a la RCA) because they seem to be able to take considerably more power than the ones that are more or less smooth. But if you have 4 of them you probably are probably not all that worried about melting your tubes tongue

PL519 is also suitable tube for smaller scale vttc. I have been using it in my very first vttc, up to 20cm sparks in cw mode.
