heh, i feel kinda good that i inspired a thread like this. Anyway, yes i do get a really bad case of "moregasm" when i go to that place and their prices doesn't make things much better tongue When i see something that looks cool and has a "potential" use keep in mind that it could be 10 years from now i usually grab it. For example, i was there a couple months ago and they had this nice 12"tall 4" wide ceramic insulator marked $5.... i mean how can i pass that up? another example was the maxwell 40kv pulse cap i got and it was marked $40 and they had a sale that day and i got it 50% off. The list just goes on and on and honestly i will not stop collecting "junk" as my mom calls it until my house implodes from all of it cheesey It would be really cool if we were able to trade off surplus stuff but that's what the junk box is for except you cant really fit radar units into the priority box wink.

Does the brick of 2000 1N4007s I bought from mouser a week ago count? I swear it was a quarter of the 12 pound shipping weight of the package.

Lol I got 1000 1N4007s from mouser last year at 1.7c a piece. The scary thing is I've been mulling over getting a reel of 5,000 at 1.1c each.:-D

P.S. 300th post tongue

All sorts of interesting meals can be put together from a well-stocked larder without the bother of going to the shops and hunting down the ingredients.

And some components are so hard to get - at affordable prices - that there's always the temptation to justify the purchase of say, 1000 100Gohm 10W 0.01% flameproof resistors as being a lifetime's supply. Never again will you be haunted by the fear of not having a 100Gohm 10W resistor! smile

And then there's a sort of squirelling instinct, very sensible in its way, to mend the roof while the sun is shining.

And then there's the storage costs - the man who sells you enough rotting crates of giant capacitors to fill your shed knows that they are worth a lot more on a piece by piece basis, but worth less than nothing if storage and truck transport are priced on a commercial basis.

That's all for now. And pass me that component catalogue again... cheesey

I bought 17.7 kg of electrical components a while ago consisting of all kinds of small capacitors, resistors, transistors ect. Not sure what I'm going to use them for however as I've never been all that big on electrical circuits, just HV and pulse power, so they have just been sitting there since I bought them on Ebay. I just couldn't pass them up though....I love surplus electrical parts. At least they are there if I ever need them

Thats funny I just sold a box ~1 cubic foot of parts for 20 bucks, really god stuff. I was barely able to cram them into a flat rate shipping box. i kinda screwed myself on that deal. It was worth much more.
