C'mon steve... be nice... just because the RF only penetrates 0.007" depth into that "Leaf Spring" is no reason to be mean.

Just so that you guys don`t jump to conclusions:

The width is chosen so that it looks good.
The thickness was chosen so that it would be mechanically stable, easy to wind and stay in shape, and because it was available.
The design is sound because it gets luke warm during operation.
I`ts just an example of the TLAR approach.

No doubt you are doing a fantastic job with your construction and the "TLAR" approach is just fine, except that you seemed to want a better way to model your flat windings; hence the mention of FEMM.

For the project im working on, i really wanted to use FEMM to identify a more ideal primary winding geometry because otherwise the cost of copper, or the heat dissipation, would have been unacceptable. If i had gone with my intuitive "TLAR" approach, i probably would have been able to cook an egg on this thing... that may still be the case when i build it but at least im trying! After seeing the FEMM model results, my TLAR model has changed significantly.
