You can also get a bode plot by solving the system of differential equations you get by mesh/nodal analysis of a circuit.

Yes, and the Laplace transform is how you usually solve them. That's what I meant earlier by using it to get to Bode plots, because when you go to the steady state, the Laplace variable s is just the same thing as frequency, j*omega. When you see an integrator in your circuit you just think 1/s which is a Bode plot sloping downwards at 6dB per octave.

So I just finished my circuits 2 class. The final was so easy... I was perfectly prepared for it...

5 problems, 1st one, get the z parameters for a TT resistor 2 port network.
2nd transform a load on a transformer to the input terminals... ideal transformers
3rd use s-domain to find a thevenin equ, I used source transforms in the s-domain
4th, node voltage
5th, natural response of an RLC circuit, this one was weird cause I got some Mega volts for a response with an 80v source, but the alpha was 100k sooo

yeah that was my test. I feel pretty good, so I am gonna spend the rest of the day, playing guitar and reading my books about solid state electronics.

Take advantage of being young and still in school.

Today I'm 26 and got the motivation to learn through HV experiments, but I cant afford to go back on student salary etc.

At times I wish I would have finished my engineer study, but then again, as an electrician I got much more spare time :)

Put another way, you're paying for your school right?

You might as well learn what they are teaching you, otherwise, you're not getting your money's worth.

But what if they aren't teaching anything? :)

He's a lazy professor, recites examples from the book, and if you even ask him one question, its like, you're dumb for even wondering. Not a good learning environment.

But hey, he's got connections to NASA so... best friends forever!

Look man... you look out for #1, okay. Don't worry about him, he's already got the job or money or whatever. All you can focus on is #1 and that's you. You follow that rule and you'll be okay. Don't pay any attention to him. After the semester is over you may see him 1 or 2 more times in your life and that's it. So just worry about yourself.

for sure, you're right!
and honestly I was just venting. You know... its a whole semester of my time, listening to this guy, at 8am. I have to pass the class cause its a pre req. and I was sort of let down because I didnt gain anything from it.

but you're right. I wasn't sure if what we skipped was important or not. I do have a genuine interest in EE. And to make a super uber tesla coil is a dream of mine, so no worries man.

its a sensible guide to give me direction that I think I lack. I might need a mentor... but where does someone get a mentor?

For me, I get my motivation from the idea that the more I pass, the better I am as a person. Ive always had just an average IQ, yet have the attitude of one with a much higher one (so I am sort of "mentally handicap"), and have struggled in math. Whenever I pass a "hard" class, I feel better and better about myself. (Yea, calc1-3 was hard as hell for me, but I did it!). The encouragement from overcoming mental handicaps is what push me...I am in Circuit analysis 1 (well, I was. Its over now and I got an A!)
