I have tried to look for HV diodes but, when I go to a site like mouser I find all the information confusing and am overwelmed. All I need are a few diode for a voltage doubler with a 7500v input at 30mA although I prolly wont draw that much. Its for an ion lifter

Just series up a bunch of 1n4007 diodes. I would recommend about 12 series to represent each diode of the rectafier so you will need 48 and get a couple extra just in case you blow some.

1n4007 is not designed to work well with the frequency range typically found from the output of a flyback transformer, but should be ok if used with an NST

You might want more than 12; More like 15-17 as a guess because you want some headroom. If there is a voltage spike, you don't want all your diodes to die at once. Also the reverse voltage across each diode isn't exactly equal and so you want to spread that voltage out a bit so you also don't kill your diodes.

Its not on a flyback. No one is going to have a flyback putting out 225watts continuos. Its a neon sign transformer. Wouldnt it be cheaper to purchase 7500v diodes instead of using 1n4007s

If you are buying from mouser, I have had good luck with the p/n 583-R5000F-T 5kv/0.2A diodes. They are nice and fast and even with 500+w at 20khz and well over 100ma of current they seemed to hold up just great

UF4007 are 75ns reverse recovery, 1A, 1kV diodes. They are widely available and inexpensive. Takes some time to sodler them in a string, but there is not much choice when it comes to HV fast recovery diodes.
