12 CDE .15uf 2kvdc caps bought. only 50 bucks in all, the shipping was free, and it will only take 2 to 3 days for shipment, so i expect it Wednesday.

Need doubler caps, and if i use lytics i need the bleeder resistors, and i need the wire for the secondary. After that i can start building.

UPDATE!.weA? I have everything now :). Bought it all. Have 48 22uf 400vdc lytics coming(somewhat lower voltage than suggested, they should be ok maybe), 100 2watt 220kohm resistors for doubler cap bleeders, 1000 1 amp 1kv diodes, and that is it :). I just noticed that i don't need to buy wire, as i have some 24 gauge already. Need to buy a 4 inch pvc pipe though. I have the power mot picked out for its size and physical condition. I will use the exact same model mot for the choke, aka charging reactor, in series with some other mot, that will also be picked for physical size, and insulation thickness between secondary and core. Mots don't sound good, but they must be because Steve Connor used the same schematic(i am copying off of him) and the reactor he used was 4 tiny chokes in series, and cfavereau(idk how to spell it correct) used a single mot with tripler on youtube with 2 seriesed mots. From the mots he had, two mots in series seems to be just right for the 30 henrys i was looking for. Oh, and the mots will have mostly dc(there will be some ac). What this means is that the voltage seen across the secondary of the mot will be lower than you might think, because an ideal inductor would offer no resistance to dc, but since the wire has resistance, there is still 'some'. The capacitors seem too small voltage and capacitance, but, Steve Connor. Hehe. 15nf and 10kv and like 80ma seems low, cause it is. That means high bps, and dc allows this. But, the charging reactor apparently boosts the 10kv to 20kv. Crud. That means 20kvac on the caps made for 20kvdc. That means i will be putting 4 times what they is made for(these caps are made for 500vac), or 2 times what tesla coilers use it for. And there is still the safety margin that i am leaving out, so dang. Oh well, Steve Connor's did not die(coil did) and they were rated for 22.5kvdc, and i have never even seen the kind he was using(1500vdc 47nf).

The secondary is going to be 24 inches tall, with 4 inch diameter(i know, bad ratio) and 24 gauge wire. I say 24 inches because Peter Terren's(Tesladownunder) 4 inch coil is 24 inches tall and it looked good. Also, with 24 gauge that just happens to be about 1,075 turns(i am using double build, YAY). That would be a resonant freq of almost 250khz. Also, 24 inches means more room for sparks without too frequent strike rail hits. It will be varnished the same way Christopher Hooper does his, but probably less coatings(I don't have the patience!!). Same polyurethane and everything.

I need to make a new primary. I would make copper tubing primary, but MAN that stuff is too expensive. I have little money left and that is going towards a sstc, and a few bucks for experimenting with small oltc's(for fun, doubtful it will be a permanent coil).

The base will be the hugely large base for the 833C coil. It is so much bigger than needed for the 833C coil. I may make a new one, but i think i will just add some more support to that one.

If someone can suggest a place to get really REALLY cheap copper tubing let me know. The best i have seen is 60USD for 100 feet, which is pretty good.

I iz excited.

Edit: Oh by the way, i just want to say i have not multiple-posted. They all have more than 48 hours(if that is the right amount of time) between them.

Another update: Went to Ace hardware to get the pvc pipe, and i remembered that i already had some! But i also picked up something to mount it with.

I'd be using larger capacitance CDE 942C series. I use 942C16P68K and they 680 nF at 1.6 kVDC! Way bigger bang - but they are $5 a pop. I used these guys exclusively in my multi KW coils and I've had few failures in 3 years.

Just some thoughts. Are you building a bipolar multiplier? This will get you more output current. EDIT: Just seen the schematic, looks OK
A MOT has about 30H open-circuit secondary inductance and will take up to 8-10kV spikes. It's not needed to short the primary because the shunts have airgaps in them so they wont saturate.
I don't know how are you calculating the series choke, but if you "bang" the energy in the multiplier, it will take several cycles to recharge.
The MOT will have to supply considerably more power than you'll be able to draw out of the multiplier. Possibly more than twice the power, probably more, so you'd better watch it's temperature.

I don't know much about SGTCs so please don't blame me if something I wrote does not make sense.

Copper has come way down in price. I buy wolverine refrig tubing 1/2" stuff for $60 / 60ft coils. 1 per foot. 3/8" is $42 for 60ft in Can. dollars.
