How exactly do you do it? You sand it down with like 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper every few(or every) coats? It sure looks incredible, and i am sure that it will last a long time, and protect from scratches.

Get a good base of 20 coats. This will ensure you do not sand into the wire. Then sand lighly with 320-grit sandpaper. Apply three coats and let dry for a few days until you can stick your fingernail into paint with no mark. Sand with 400-grit sandpaper, apply three to five coats, and let dry a week. Then the fun with Wet/DRY Black sandpaper. Put a little water on coil and sand your brains out. Apply three to five coats and sand again with 800-grit WET/DRY Black sandpaper. Let dry a week, say your prays and apply last coat.
Yes, it takes time but have a few projects running and just sand a little each night and jump on another project (Quad VTTC)

I am now copying and pasting into wordpad and saving it :P. I dont care how long it takes, a coil that can look like yours, is soooo worth the time(which i have plenty of).
Thanks, now i am going to get some more 24 gauge wire and make a big coil!

Beautiful work, as always, Dr. Spark. Looks like you dipped the thing in glass.
As for music, how about 'Cliffs of Dover,' it seems pretty good for MIDI music.
Probably not MIDI friendly, but the Dropkick Murphys' 'Tessie' has a certainly irony to it, if only in name. 'Lightning Does the Work,' does as well, but it is less MIDI friendly even than Tessie.

The coil looks absolutely sweet. I'm thinking of putting some more layers of varnish on my coil. But can I ask you how long it took to get that far with so many layers.
