Wicked lasers sells The Torch replacement bulbs for only $10 amazed Link2

If you wanna go totally insane in the bright flashlight department, I'd get several of these bulbs, make a ceramic holder for them and a huge reflector, and run them off a backpack of gel-cells for a long run time.

You would by far have the brightest flash light in the country.

A 100w quartz halogen bulb (even a kw of quarts halogen and associated driver mess) would have a hard time comparing to some decent HID lamps, or a (very expensive) LED solution.

If you really want to go somewhere grab a short arc lamp out of a projector (also very similar to a HID bulb, just bigger for the super high power projectors) and design around that. As an added bonus the tiny arc length would give a flashlight that can be focused quite well and casts perfect shadows tongue

On a more serious note, just pick one off of Link2 or candelpowerforums (as linked previously).

How about a surefire g2? I have one and it's insanely bright for its tiny size. Although, it only lasts for an hour of continuous use and isn't rechargeable.
How about this:
Link2 tongue Its rechargeable and can do a 500 lumen burst!
This one is a little less expensive: Link2
