Oh and the driver -.-, but then again people who drive SUV's drive it for their own safety at the expense of others.....

Glad nothing important got damaged (appart from the cable).
I did once hear somone who was discussing "safe driving" say that if you were out of control and going to hit something, don't make it a tree. They are extremely solid; at least walls have the decency to fall over. Trees just stop the car dead- and if you are unlucky "dead" is the word.

Trees are far more dangerous to cars than most people think. They have an amazing ability to lock with a car so it does not glance off. Combined with being very dense and solid they can slice and rip a car in half, destroying everything inside it.

This is what happen to a car if you hit a tree at 120 km/h (75 mph): Link2
Everything inside the car back to the boot is completely destroyed.
