The nose is always a good PCB tester. You can smell the stuff a mile away.
It really stinks!

PCB's? Nahhh... It looks like the thing's got polymer LV bushings (does it, Arcstarter?). I'm thinking it's 1980's vintage or newer.

Cheers,

Yes, it has the low voltage bushings. BTW thank you guys for all your support and concerns.

Got some specs.
non pcb
50kva
22 gallons
13200grdy/7620-120/240
high voltage basic impulse level(BIL): 95kv
low voltage BIL:30kv

Good deal. 7600V is a little low for a TC, but effective with the right gap. Now let's see some 50kVA resonant pole pig arcs! All you need is a 200A feed cheesey

Incidentally, in my previous post I was trying to emphasize that the LV bushings appear to be made of a polymer instead of ceramic. I think it's fair to take for granted the existence of the LV bushings wink Polymer LV bushings are a newish thing, not really taking off until the 1980's, and even then only somewhat. Cooper likes to use them a lot. Is this perhaps a Cooper brand transformer, or perhaps one of the brands that Cooper owns, like RTE or McGraw Edison?

Cheers,
Aaron, N7OE

Nice. IT'S ALIIIVVVVVVE!!! cheesey What a beast!

I definitely vote for wearing shoes next time! suprised Remember, with these single-bushing trannies, if neither you nor your transformer are insulated from ground, you are basically attached to one leg of the HV. Usually the tranformer is sitting directly on the ground, so good shoes keep you two steps away from death instead of just one.

Cheers,
Aaron, N7OE
