Would anybody buy these items? How much are they worth?

How about complete sstc's or vttc's? Maybe even sgtc's. It would all be after i have had more experience with sstc's so that i could make them better. I would be looking to sell a complete sstc with about 6 inch sparks and in a nice box for maybe 200-300 bucks. Is that a realistic price range? A sgtc would be about the same, because a good transformer costs about 50
bucks and the capacitor may cost up to 50 bucks as well, the secondary would cost me around 25 dollars and it would take awhile to tune and make work well. I would likely use a helical primary for a more compact design. Likely with solid 12 gauge. If you guys think i could sell a nicely made 2 inch by 11 inch tesla coil with something like 6-10 inch sparks, i will
go ahead and start making one.

Let me give you guys the likely specifics so you know where i am going.

6kv 30 ma nst

cornell dubilier .15 uf mmc

fan cooled copper cylinder static spark gap

helical primary with heavy gauge wire, likely solid

safety gap(OF COURSE!)

terry filter with the resistors and mov's most likely

just a simple switch to turn it on, variacs are too expensive any would add a possible 50 bucks due to the high shipping costs

2 inch diameter secondary with 11 inches of winding and 30 gauge double build wire with a few(maybe 5 or more) coatings with minwax clear coat fast drying polyurethane

little 12 volt rectified and smoothed transformer for powering the fan and a light to indicate it is on

rfi fliter

Just for the heck of it i will tune it with a small really cheap topload(a ball covered with aluminum tape) before selling so that when you get it you just plug it in and flip the switch and watch the sparks fly. I would use and atx psu fan, bought from either radio shack or a local electronics store called Ralph's electronics . I would include a 2 amp variac, but i would have to have two power cords going to the tesla coil, one for the variac controlled nst and one to the 12 volt transformer. I am just trying to make some money before i can get a real job. Even when i have a job i would still like to make a little money on the side.

No, i do not really think i would be able to sell it for this much or even at all, but ya never know!

Ok, how about an 811a vttc?

Same secondary specifications as above

one 811a

a fan to cool the innards

a plate transformer(no mot's here!) of about 1500 volts so i do not overheat the 811a over long runs

a proper filament transformer

thick and tight wiring

tickler coil(feedback coil) will be painted over several times to be sure the thin insulation on the enameled copper wire does not arc over

811a socket

made with Steve Wards schematic

good 1nf 20kv capacitor, probably doorknob

fan cooling the plate transformer and doorknob cap

811a top cap

if i can get it to work well, simple interrupter(with a single 555 and mosfet to ground the cathode) for cool sound effects and sparks will differ with different frequencies, and gdt would be used to keep 555 away from any spikes. Got this idea from someone that use a mosfet to audio modulate a vttc

of course the 12 volt transformer, rectified, smoothed, and regulated for the fans, interrupter, and of course a convenient led or other light to indicate power on

and lastly, an rfi filter for the input

This is the point where people think i am crazy :P. I would not make many of these coils, cause i doubt there are many people that would buy it, especially for the price that i want. These prices would only leave me with 50-100 bucks profit(which is really alot), because of the fact that the components are quite expensive. I do think the sgtc should sell, especially with such good capacitors and filtering! The shipping will cost an arm and a leg, but this would be a cool thing to have for impressing friends, showing how you can light a fluorescent bulb from a distance, and turn a regular light bulb into a plasma globe.

Not exactly.... I can make the high voltage power supply but i have no gas or flasks or anything that would work. I can make plasma in a little bulb but not much and it is not efficient.

OT here but,

If money is what you want, I suggest *cough* paid bogging advertising survey *cough*

25¢ or $3 for surveys and paid blogging might seem low but they add up quickly.

I get around 10 paid blogs a week each $2 to $5 ($20 to $50) a week for doing nothing.
