I am using 50nF with 8,5uH primary.
So I think that 24A is for the first cicle at 320V Bus :P
But I really dont know, the arcs of reaching have another visual style. I wast try to increase the PW of interrupter, only I get 300Hz at PRF. I think I would try, it is consuming only 2,5A from the mains (127VAC Mains with doubler)

STGW30NC60WD has only 15Amp built-in clamp diode. Use a low forward-drop, fast external diode or bypass the internal one by the traditional way.
