Possibly broken NST? how can I fix it?

ok...so this is my plan. I'm going to remove a good portion of the metal from areound the broken terminal. then I'm going to put it in a box (possibly wood) and attach all of my connections to the outside of the box so that I'm not constantly attaching to the very fragile NST wire. How hot do the NSTs usually run? I'm probably going to have to attach a fan to it as well.
This really sucks.

Assuming you purchased this new, i would simply return it for a replacement unit, especially if it was shipped from the manufacturer.

nope, purchased from some guy in Canada. He did a good job packaging it. but some of the screws were too small. The guy only wanted $10.00 for it. but unfotunitly I spent 46 on shipping....I thought I was getting a good deal
