It is hard to tell you how many turns is the best. It is a kind of try/error thing. There will be no much difference for thinner wire, more inductive reactance is what you need. Try with let say 15 turns, and if everything is ok, try to remove turns, until you feel that you find the compromise between the current limiting and the streamer lenght. It is possible to fry another FETs though in the process, so if you are still on the IRFP450s, just run more primary turns for safety.
