I'd rewire it just like Seoul Lasers diagram. Ditch the choke. Set the spark gap with the transformer output before hooking it up to the tank circuit. You are probably over-volting the transformer from an improperly set gap.

I don't think this coil you have was designed very well.

Actually the choke could also be causing problems for you. There is some inductance to the choke and it can actually raise your tank voltage. It can also cause problems with the transformer. Kristian is totally right... choke is going to lead to problems. The design was NOT properly thought out. this is a common problem with Information unlimited.

*********Capacitors are charge via one leg only, NEVER EVER directly across the hot and ground of ANY transformer.

so should I still ground the building ground to the XFMR body?

NO, you use a separate ground for RF. RF grounds to the water pipes or what ever. Never use house ground for this.
Transformer is connected to house ground.

It sounds like you should rebuild the circuit. This is why you keep blowing your transformers.

I just bought a potted 9KV/.03 XFMR and will rebuild the circuit without the choke, per your diagram. Keeping the XFMR common/ground away from the House ground. Hopefully this will fix everything. Im just hoping that my CAP can take the new XFMR's output.

XMFR goes to house ground. TC secondary and discharge wand goes to RF ground which is separate and goes to a copper water pipe... or spike in the ground.

Ok, so Im slightly confused now, I got my new XFMR and wired it per your drawing. The XFMR has two output leads and no way of telling anything like Hot and neutral. With the CAP on the back end of the spark gap and the XFMR wired straight to the gap all I am getting is a small spark directly from the XFMR. No more than if I held the XMFR leads to each other. Certainly not the crack that I was getting from the old design. I feel like I am missing a ground wire somewhere, the original plans had the groung from the wall outlet directly meeting up with the XFMR lead at the spark gap. But it seems to me everyone is saying not to do that.

Im at a loss. I cant get anything across the spark gap but the XFMR current when everything else is unplugged as soon as I plug in the CAP circuit I get nothing. I tried the new wiring scheme and the old and still nothing. Its possible the CAP is now bad but since it never ran with it Im not sure if its that. The CAP looks fine but its hard to tell. The new power supply may have been too much for it.

Another strange thing about the "Info Unlimited" plan is that the primary and secondary are wired together at the base of the secondary were from what I can tell the secondary should only have a ground wire and nothing else going to it.

Is there anyone in the Philadelphia area that would like to be commisioned to get this TC up and running? At this point in time it is more important to get it running than it is to say I did it myself.

I have used this exact capacitor and it died in short order. It didn't last 1 day so you are probably right about the capacitor being bad. When my capacitor died you couldn't tell by looking at it so you might want to test to confirm.
