The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
are you running dc or ac? i am up to 1.5 metres with 2 mots (although shes developed a no go state at the moment :() get the size of your tank circuit bigger bigger bigger.. 1mm will get warm i would expect lol I'm running 1/4 inch copper pipe and the tuning point warms up on mine
I'd be care about pushing more than 2Kw through these as they will start to get roasty quickly. On my NST supply 4XMFRs 240mA 12Kv -- they get quite HOT!
It works to arrest any inbound feedback from the TC, but seriously thinking about upgrading to 1500W resistors, or just making my own.
I too have built MOT supplies, last one was a asymmetrical 5 pack which produced 11.5Kv @ 400-500mA, for short bursts, and could draw up to 1A on it. I ended up welding a metal table to the ground with it by accident. Not something to play around with. Unfortunatly this supply never made it to become a PSU for a TC.. :( sad...
