You may want to consider where you are pointing your fingers at... while China still operates under the name of communism, its leaning towards a meritocracy with an extreme emphasis against killing corruption at all government levels.

Now look at the US government, and all the corruption in it. Big industry and media own the government, and spread anti-________ propaganda as it suits their needs.

This closed minded thinking will lead to the US falling behind China since they will continue to fool themselves that they are still 'better' when, if you take a deep look, China is improving really darned fast.

Look Norman, All I said was that the girl from China was allowed to fall on her knees and plant both hands on the mat, and the girl from Korea landed out of bounds both times she dismounted. Meanwhile, Ms. Sacramone neither landed on her hands and knees, nor did she land out of bounds (in this competition anyway cheesey). But tell me Mr. Chu, What does your post have to do with the Olympics or your countries athletes?

Wait, does Canada even have any athletes in the Summer games?

I believe Canada does have athletes in the games, and my comment was not directed at your specific statement about the gymnastics judges, but in general there seems to be a general resentment against China, communism, or any other undesirable problem.

I'm Chinese, but I'm born in Canada, so before you start using my full name as some sort of attack on my nationality and heritage, consider that possibility. I'd expect that much at least.

I give up chief, forget I said anything. confused
I guess I'll just talk about the Olympics with the people in my household from now on.
I try to use everyones name when I talk to them.
You don't honestly think my girlfriend calls me Ultra7, do you?
I'm Mike, just like 100 other Mikes on this site, but to avoid confusion I used my kids favorite Ultraman character.
I won't address you any more, nor will I ever use your name ever again.
Have a nice life, Aonomus.

I can't believe Nastia Liukin got snubbed for the gold there... that was wrong. She got the same score and that idiotic tie-breaker cost it. They should have just let them tie, if not disqualified the other girl for quite obviously being under age.

There, there, aonomus. Every country has morons who fall for religi-, erhm, things people in this day and age should know better than to believe. Governments and media can move the masses to whatever may benefit their own political agenda. Talking about it here doesn't help because we're all aware of this, the only thing we can do is stay critical and point stuff like this out to others who aren't as critical to the media or government. No matter what you do it happens, what you should be worrying about is which political agenda suits you the best.
so are you a athiest then eirik

Indeed, any more "harmony" and this thread will go the way of Lance Armstrong's balls.

Okay, anymore negative comments regarding other people's countries or beliefs, and this thread is locked. We all come from different backgrounds and although we may not agree with one's beliefs etc..., we must respect them.

So again, the next post that isn't related to actual Olympics sporting events and performances, this thread is locked.

I think it comes down to the judging. Not that its unfair, but one of the rules is that countries who have participants in the finals events are not allowed to have a judge on the judging stand for that event.

What that means is that since all the countries with the strongest gymnastic programs usually have a finalist competing, that you end up with judges from countries that aren't as competent in gymanstics and thus end up with a judge competency issue. So a judge may not be so keen to see small nuances in the performance as someone from one of the "strong" countries would be.
