Now that my big tesla coil is completed i can finally move on to other things that need to be done and a electronics bench overhaul was 1st in line. I used to do most of my "LOW VOLTAGE" stuff in my room but it got to a point were it was just to cluttered. My dad has been working on getting a new workspace set up for me in the basement so today i moved all my stuff down there. Here are some pics of how it came out.

The white table top is made from cement board and i have torture tested it with fire, brute force from a sledge hammer, high voltage resistance, mot arcs and just about anything else that i would be using on it and it held up very well. I am still going to add lots of mini part bins on the opposing wall so i will have lots of storage for components.

lol i will have to have a work space over haul my self my mum said that if i dont get my stuff out of my room buy the end of the month she's going to thow everything away

I'm trying to do the same. I have to spread out equipment into my bedroom and back office because I simply cannot setup all the gear in one location. I'd have to recommend any desk with a hutch because that way you get nice shelf space for the gear, as well as a top shelf you can put power supplies on and all kinds of other neat stuff :)

I would recommend also that you don't hang up your scope leads the way you're showing. Those are good leads and should be tucked away in a pouch on top of your scope. At a replacement cost well over $100 each, I would recommend something other then the wall hook.

I like your function generator, I gotta get one with a volt meter in it one of these days. It disappoints me that BK didn't think of that.

A few more goodies, A GPIB network, and you'll be ready to rock n roll! hehe.

Tnanks. I made a pouch to store my probes today. I can emadgine that they are very expensive because one time i came this>< close to frying one by accadentally dumping 50v 10A into it while probing a mosfet but despite the magic smoke it lived on to tell the story

. Also in case any of you were wondering how things looked before i organised everything i posted some pics.

Holy crap teslacoolguy! With that kind of a room you might want to consider starting floorHV as a fork of 4hv :D

My workspace isn't that bad right now, but it might get that bad soon enough....

that's even worse than my situation lol... my mom says she is getting a space in the garage usable for my projects (power, water, light tight for B&W photography, and storage space so I can organize my parts in things better than plastic baggies, which leads puncture through, get static, and are messy in general)... I plan to, once I get the space, convince them to throw in some better test equipment, so my time can be better spent on the project rather than making something to test it with, or throwing together a power supply for each project that will eventually have a better, and smaller, one that does NOT use the wall...

and BTW, how much do those mini drawer things in the right of the lower "old" pic cost? I have wanted some for a while, but never looked into it too much, as my Hazardous materials come first...

Those are just mini storage bins that you buy at lows and they were $6 for a pack of 8. They are very inexpensive and they work great for storing things.

Well if he did than i dont really know. My dad had those for some time now and i have no clue were he got them.

What do you do for wire storage? Do you have a rack of some sort to contain all the mess?

As for the mini storage bins, try a local hardware store, maybe in the neighborhood of $20-30, depending on the material and quality.
