As opposed to wrapping a coil from bottom to top, I have recently seen someone wrap their coil in a different fashion. The coil started by folding the length of wire used in half, then, the wrap started from the middle of the coil as opposed from the bottom, up. the wire (that was folded in half) then was wrapped towards the bottom of the coil, from the middle, while the other half of the folded wire was wrapped towards the top. Essentially I guess this left a tiny loop in the coil where the wire had switched directions. Why is this? What benefit would it provide?

If you start in the middle and are winding half one way and half the other way then you would be doing twice as much winding with at once. Once the wires got more spread out it would be hard to keep track of. The two halves would be of opposite direction too.
Hmm.. I saw a picture on the net (which is why i started this thread), it was a schematic that somebody had drawn up on the computer, and the reason I ask is because the person drew a loop in the secondary and made a note beside it saying "<<---- -Add loop".. if anyone comes across a picture like that, post it!
